In the modern world, it is customary to celebrate a significant date or a grandiose holiday by launching fireworks. This always looks fascinating and beautiful. It is impossible to watch the festive fireworks without delight, glee and admiration.

In Russia, it is launched, for example, in honor of the New Year, Victory Day, City Day. But few people think about who came up with the idea to launch unusually magical, bright and charming shining sparks into the sky?

Differences between fireworks and fireworks

People quite often confuse the words "fireworks" and "fireworks". Few people know how they differ. At major events, concerts, holidays, the audience enthusiastically watches the fiery glow. Some of the audience calls it a "salute", and someone calls it a "firework". In fact, these are two completely different things.

A salute is a volley of cannons in honor of a significant event. Translated from French, it means "greeting", that is, the salute is a welcome salvo.

Fireworks – any sparkling, flickering lights of a pyrotechnic device. Usually, they are used at festive events.

Where and when did fireworks first appear?

The date of the invention of fireworks is not exactly known. But historians suggest that this happened in ancient China, during the reign of the Han Dynasty. The image of a modern salute appeared in the Celestial Empire thanks to an accidental case: one day a bamboo stalk got into the fire. Its juice, when heated, began to turn into steam, and in an instant it filled part of the plant, and after a while, it exploded with a bang.

This made a very big impression on the people, so in China, during holidays and religious rituals, bamboo was burned. It was believed that loud explosions and pops could scare away evil spirits.

At the same time, the invention of fireworks also gave rise to the development of weapons: for example, fire-tipped arrows and bombs.

History of fireworks in Europe

Initially, the masters of the Middle Ages made weapons only for the army and soldiers, but over time they began to create a variety of pyrotechnic shows for high society, each time improving the composition. Sparklers and various forms of fireworks in the form of a fountain, candles, wheels were also created.

The Italians were considered the best European medieval pyrotechnic masters. From all the countries that were in the neighborhood, noble and rich people came to look at the fiery performance and admire it.

Thus, from Italy, the fame of fire shows spread throughout Europe. In the future, fireworks were launched in other European countries on religious holidays, coronations, birthdays of rich aristocrats.

When did the first salute appear in Russia?

The history of fireworks in the Russian Empire begins with the name of Peter the Great. He traveled a lot in Europe in his youth.

Thanks to this, a lot of innovations appeared in the emperor's native country. In Germany, Peter saw a fiery performance, and already in 1690 he staged fireworks in Russia.

The salute launched in honor of the victory of the USSR over the German invaders in 1943 became significant for the Soviet people. Another military fireworks display was launched on Red Square on May 9, 1945, when the Red Army won the Second World War. This salute became the largest and most beautiful, therefore, it was remembered by the whole world.

So, fireworks and fireworks have become a tradition of society, because without them it is now very difficult to imagine celebrating important events and holidays. In modern society, fireworks can be bought and launched independently on any holiday, for example, a birthday or a wedding. The main thing is to observe safety measures and follow the instructions.
