On October 26, 2023, a cinematic masterpiece called "Empresses" was presented to the audience.

A large team of professionals worked on the film: Andrey Kravchuk, Julia Peresild, Konstantin Khabensky, Anton Cherenkov, Boris Khanchalyan, Morad Fattah and others.

This film combines elements of art and documentary chronicle, it also continues the narrative cycle and emphasizes the importance of the history of the Russian Empire.

The Russian Empire and the importance of the contribution of women in this historical period.

- What was this film made for? What tasks were set?

“It was important for us to show this era because a very long period of time has passed - a century. How can I tell you about the century in 2 hours? Not even 20 history lessons are enough to tell. As filmmakers, it was important for us that young people come. I want the movie to be not only entertaining,” commented Julia Peresild

- How did you come up with the idea to shoot a video with Lucy Chebotina “Императрица”?

“In addition to this trailer, we also created a clip with Lucy Chebotina to attract a young audience. How to attract “you”?, – “You” are bored. If we had written, “You know, this is such an amazing movie, an amazing history lesson – come on!”Everyone will definitely be there,” Peresild replied sarcastically.”

- Did you think that cinema would become such a success?

“Cinema is such a thing, it always involves a miracle. Everyone is working very hard. The set is the hardest work: it's always cold, in mud, in uncomfortable costumes, it's all at least 12 hours, everyone swears and swears, dinners in “fake” plastic jars, and it's a lifetime. But everyone works with the idea that no one ever knows if this movie will turn out. The audience will love him or not.”

- Do you think that Elizabeth Petrovna has never found the so-called “female happiness"?

“In fact, there was always a man with whom they lived next to her, but due to the fact that he was not of royal origin, they were never able to get married, she had no children. Yes, “she never had a woman's happiness.” By the way, this is the only thing she could not acquire. I think that was her tragedy.”

- What sources did you use to build the image of this historical character? Maybe you added something from yourself?

“Of course, I added a lot of myself. I really wanted her to be different. On the one hand, this is a ruler who can kick a person out in the middle of the ball for not following the rules, but at the same time she is a giggler, cheerful, loved the theater, abolished the death penalty. This combination of “a fluttering butterfly” and “a man in a cuirass” was probably the main thing”

There were a lot of questions at the press conference, and Julia answered the students with great pleasure. She talked not only about the creation of the film, but also about the historical era in which she managed to “visit”.
